Note: This article is designed to guide program participants to device settings that may be impacting Reconnect Community functionality.

Confirm Reconnect Community app permissions

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Apps and scroll down to find Reconnect Community

  3. You are now on the Reconnect Community settings page. Though this screen will look different depending on the device model and OS, you will always find the app permission settings here.

  4. Find the Notifications option and select it

  5. On the App Notifications page, confirm that notifications are allowed

  6. Confirm that alerts for the different notification types are also all allowed

  7. Select the notification type to move determine the sound and alert settings for that specific type. All alerts should be allowed, make sound, and be able to show as a pop-up, app badge, and on the lock screen.

  8. Return to the Reconnect Community screen and go to Permissions.

  9. Select the Location permission and confirm it is set to Allow all the time

  10. Return to the previous page and select the Physical activity permission. Confirm that is set to Allow. This permission helps us provide better location data. We do not use it to record client activity.

  11. Return to the Permissions screen and confirm all other permissions are allowed.

Note: You can also access Reconnect Community notification settings by going to the Settings app > Notifications > finding Reconnect Community from the list of apps.

Device permissions do not allow notification when other apps are in use

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Apps and scroll down to find Reconnect Community

  3. Scroll down to the Appear on top setting. If you don’t see this option, look for an Advanced settings option and you might find it there.

  4. Select that option to turn the setting On.

Check your phone sound settings

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Apps and then to Sounds and vibration

  3. Confirm that the phone is not set to silent or vibrate

  4. From the Sounds and vibration screen, go to Volume

  5. Increase the notification volume if it is too low

  6. Return to the Sound and vibration screen and select Vibration intensity

  7. Increase the vibration intensity for notifications as needed.

Allow Reconnect Community to run in the background

Turn off battery optimization for Reconnect Community

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Apps and scroll down to select Reconnect Community

  3. Select Battery. If Optimize battery usage says “Not optimized” then no changes are needed. If it does not, select that option.

  4. Switch the filter to All and scroll down the list of apps until you reach Reconnect Community. Switch the toggle to Off to prevent battery optimization for the app.

Prevent Reconnect Community from being put to sleep

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Device care

  3. Select Battery and then App power management

  4. If it is on, turn off Adaptive Battery

  5. Select Sleeping apps. If Reconnect Community is on that list, remove it.

  6. Return to the previous screen and select Apps that won’t be put to sleep

  7. Select the + in the top right, then scroll down to Reconnect Community, select it, and click Add

Turn off Adaptive Battery

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Device care

  3. Select Battery and then App power management

  4. If it is on, turn off Adaptive Battery

Tip: Having a hard time finding these settings? Open the phone’s Settings app and use the search option to look up “sleeping.” The adaptive battery setting is on the same page.

Confirm that GPS is enabled on your phone

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Location

  3. Confirm that location is On

Tip: Do you see an option to Improve accuracy on this screen? Select that to allow the phone to use both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for location scanning, which will improve location accuracy for all apps that use it (not just Reconnect Community).

Allow cellular usage for Reconnect Community

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Apps and scroll down to find Reconnect Community

  3. Select Mobile data

  4. Confirm that Allow background data usage is turned on

Disable Low Power Mode

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Device care

  3. Select Battery and then Power mode

  4. Confirm the power mode is not one that includes power saving

Turn off battery optimization and data saver settings

Disable data saver settings

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings app

  2. Go to Apps and scroll down to select Reconnect Community

  3. Go to Mobile data

  4. Turn on Allow app while Data saver on

  5. Return to the Settings app and go to Connections

  6. Select Data usage and find the Data saver setting. Confirm that is Off.
